If the default stationery is an editable text format, a new item will be created from that stationery instead. Added the ability to append text to notes, plain text files, rich text files and Markdown files with Siri. Added the ability to search for items with Siri by name, content or dates. Regularly viewed items may be suggested by Siri as shortcuts on iOS 12.

SEARCH - When searching, suggestions will be shown above the keyboard. Choosing suggestions will add them to the search field, allowing complex searches to be created. Tap and hold on a suggestion to choose alternatives.

When searching, found text will be highlighted in notes, rich and plain text documents, Markdown files and previews, mail messages, PDFs and web pages. Added an “Include nested folders and bundles” option for saved searches that target folders. Added a “does not contain” condition for name, comments, source and filename.

LISTS - To see Unfiled items, tap Edit above the Lists view, then settings, and switch “Show Unfiled” on. To see items with No Label, tap Edit above the Lists view, then settings, and switch “Show No Label” on. Add or remove favorites by swiping left and tapping the button.

FAVORITE LISTS - See favorite lists by tapping the star icon above the lists view. Tap a favorite list to show the items it contains. Tap Edit to rearrange or remove favorites. ITEM LIST - It’s now possible to show zero preview lines in the item list. The date and summary are now shown on the same line. It’s now possible to hide the date. It’s now possible to always show the Kind at the start of the summary.

MARKDOWN - Added the ability to paste Markdown links from copied URLs. When previewing Markdown files, code marked with a language in fenced code blocks will now be include syntax highlighting (internet connection required). Find text in Markdown documents by tapping the Find button in the keyboard toolbar. On iPad, drag links or items to Markdown documents to create clickable links. NOTES & RICH TEXT DOCUMENTS - Tap the search button to find text and step through the results - The Add Link button has been moved from the toolbar to become one of the options seen when tapping the Add button, and is included in the text editing menu.

Tap the Preview button to toggle between the editor and preview. Select text and use the toolbar or menu to format text. When editing, lists will automatically continue on a new line. Tap the activity button and choose Markdown Settings to change the editor or preview style, manage styles, choose the default mode (edit or preview), and more.

Markdown settings and stylesheets will be stored in iCloud, when Keep It is set to use iCloud. Export Markdown files in their original format, or as RTFD or HTML using the Export activity. Show a word count by tapping the activity button and choosing Show Word Count. The word count is for the rendered text. Encryption - Encrypt or decrypt items by tapping the activity button and tapping Encrypt or Decrypt. Use Face ID or Touch ID to view or decrypt items when an encryption password has already been set.

Encrypted items can be temporarily viewed and edited, and will be hidden when navigating away or switching apps. Files are encrypted as Zip files with AES-256 encryption. Set an encryption password when first encrypting an item, or in Library settings. Change the encryption password in library settings. Encrypted items will need to be downloaded so their passwords can be changed. When exporting folders to other apps (or exporting all iCloud Data), you’ll be offered to decrypt encrypted items, or skip.

Text Editing - Show a word count in editable text views by tapping the activity button and choosing Show Word Count - Tap the word count to choose whether to show characters, words, sentences or paragraphs, or to hide the word count. Notes - Notes can now be exported as RTF, plain text or HTML files using the Export activity. The Save to Files activity will no longer be offered for notes. Use the Export activity instead. Notes are now always converted to RTFD files when exporting with drag and drop. Media Files - Improved viewer for video that supports full screen, AirPlay, etc - Improved viewer for audio that shows artwork, metadata (if available) and the duration.

Sharing - Swipe left on any list and tap the ellipses icon to copy a clickable link to the list. In list view, swipe left and tap the more button to copy a link to an item. In icon view, copy an item link using the menu you see after long-pressing on items.

Mail Messages - After a mail message is imported a summary will be extracted along with sent and received dates, which will be used as the creation and modification dates of the corresponding items. Disable the import of dates from mail messages in Keep It’s Settings. Fixed an issue where some mail messages would not be displayed correctly. General - Improved the behaviour of the “When first saved” setting for automatically naming notes and stationery items. Keep It will now keep updating the name the first time the item is edited, but will stop if the item is manually renamed, or the file is updated from iCloud. Improved summaries for notes and text files.

When “Show Number of Items” is enabled, the count will indicate whether or not the items were found as part of a search. When subscriptions expire, it’s now possible to export the entire library as a folder or ZIP file. Added support for viewing and editing Fountain files as plain text.

Fixes - Fixed an issue where not all items in folders may be exported with drag and drop. Fixed a performance issue when viewing large plain text documents.

Fixed an issue moving items to the top level in the Files app. Fixed an issue where it may not be possible to rename an item in the Files app. 1.3.6 May 31, 2018. Fixed an issue where a PDF that’s been set to display in place in a note on Mac would not be displayed at all. Attached movies and audio are now shown with an icon and filename in notes.

However, every time I try to add a file (a pdf from safari) the app crashes and the file is not saved. This has also happened several times when trying to add a web page (not for offline viewing) but I was eventually able to get it to work. I am also concerned about what happens to my data if my subscription is accidentally cancelled (issue with my card on file with iTunes which happens often for some reason) or if I decide to try a different app/service. Will there be a way to export my data from Keep It or will it just be lost?

In the end, it seems like a simplified version of DEVONThink. I am looking for an alternative because lately I’ve had issues with DEVONthinks sync stores (tells me I entered the incorrect encryption key, but I have checked multiple times and there is zero chance I am entering the incorrect key). DEVONThink has a ton more “features” than Keep It, but many of them are overkill for my use case.

I just want to have one place to organize all of my documents, files, notes, websites, etc that allows me to easily find what I need regardless of which device I am using. If Keep It can fix the crash issues I will give it a shot. Until then, the search continues. Developer Response, Sorry you are having problems. Stickies are in the of macOS, but Apple has the app in years, instead pushing users to the. In addition to offering, the Notes app has the benefit of iCloud syncing, so that you always have access to your notes on your Mac, iPhone, or iPad. But many users still miss the old simplicity of the Stickies app, and want the option to keep their notes on top of other windows in some circumstances. The good news is that the Notes app also supports this “always on top” functionality. It’s just not clear from the primary user interface how to access it. So if you’re a recovering Stickies user who has now migrated to the Notes app, here’s how to float a note in macOS. Float a Note to Keep it Always on Top When you launch the Notes app, you’ll see a single window with all of your notes together, with the list of your notes displayed in the sidebar.

When we float a note, we’ll separate it from this unified interface so that the note in question occupies its own window. To do so, either double-click the desired note’s entry in the sidebar, or select the note and then choose Window Float Selected Note from the menu bar at the top of the screen. This will display only the selected note in its own window separate from the primary Notes app.

Now, if you just wanted a particular note to exist in its own window, you’re all set. The note will act just like any other application window in macOS, including being positioned beneath any active windows that cover it. To keep the note always on top, click on it once to make sure it’s active and then select Window Float on Top from the menu bar. This keeps the note in its separate window, but now ensures that it will always remain on top of any other application windows, regardless of which app is active. This can be useful if you want to reference information on your note while still using an application that would otherwise cover the note. Floating Notes Caveats There’s one big limitation to keep in mind when using floated notes, and especially floated notes that are always on top: they won’t work with full-screen applications. In what could be argued to be an oversight on Apple’s part, you can’t position a note, even if it has been configured to float on top, over a full-screen app or window.

You can make a windowed application take up the full desktop as shown with Google Maps in Safari in the screenshot above, but if you take Safari or any other app into dedicated full-screen mode, the note won’t be visible until your return to your desktop. This certainly limits the usefulness of floated notes, especially considering Apple’s continued push and refinement of the full-screen app experience in macOS.
